Sacredness

When we think of the sacred, we often imagine grand temples, rituals, or profound spiritual awakenings. Yet true spiritual intelligence invites us to recognize the divinity hidden within each moment; brushing our teeth, washing the dishes, talking to the cashier at the checkout counter. Nothing is too ordinary to matter.

Each of our lives is a hero's journey. We begin by being cast out from our home base, forgetting our divine nature. Then, we spend our lives finding our way back home, igniting and fanning the flame of our sacred spark. As we remember and recover the precious sacredness of our being, we re-member ourselves as part of the One divine Being. And as we actualize our unique purpose, our life becomes a thread in an intricately woven tapestry, criss-crossing with the threads of all other beings.

Paraphrasing what one spiritual practitioner beautifully expressed, "All reality is knit together—made of one sacred fabric, braiding together each of our intricately woven threads into a beautiful mosaic."  

Viewed from this perspective, sacredness uses the mundane as a portal into radical reverence. The kitchen becomes a place of alchemy; a conversation becomes a dance between souls.
